⛦What is Obsceneonyx?⛦

Obsceneonyx is a lot. A lot goes on with everything I make. It’s usually pretty sparkly too. Has gems, charms, sequins, whatever. I just never want to make boring clothes. I’m not too into producing everyday wear like graphic tees. See how I say producing instead of creating? When I think about producing graphic tees for Obsceneonyx I get bored. Even though most people are more interested in buying everyday wear. I understand that. Not everyone wants to spend a lot on avant-garde-like pieces that they’re probably only going to wear to upscale events or maybe not even that. Maybe a photo shoot or a music show. That’s just where I find my passion. Sometimes I’ll find myself trying to conform in that way. An artist needs to make money to survive too. At the end of the day though.. I’m happiest creating experimental, over-the-top, sparkly things.

⛦What is Obsceneonyx currently working on?⛦

I’m not going to say too much about the fashion show. However, for the show I’m a part of I’m creating my most avant-garde collection yet. Think post-apocalyptic wasteland fairy zombies. Everything is of course, like always, 100% upcycled and hand sewn. I’m doing things I’ve never done before. I’ve never done pleats before or used dental floss instead of sewing thread. I’m also using a ton of denim, which in the past I have worked with. I’m taking it to another level with this collection though. It’s going to be great. 

I’m also starting to think about important aspects to make my business seem more legit. Like business cards and brand ambassadors. Fun fact, I have a bunch of business cards from before I rebranded. I received them in March/April 2024 and rebranded in June 2024. I can’t even use them because I’m no longer h!jynx, I’m Obsceneonyx! I still really like that name though, going to use it for a project in the future for sure. I also want to just have a nicer setup for when I do flea markets for this year. They’re really fun, I went in with no guidance last year though. Kind of just doing whatever. I’m going to be better prepared this year.

⛦My Identity⛦

It took me quite a while to actually find a brand name I liked as well as a logo. At the end of the day, I just like creating. It doesn’t matter what the name is, I just realized like.. If I’m going to be serious I need something iconic. Obsceneonyx was my scene name in 2021-2023. You know how there are scene queens, KikiKannibal and Vanna Venom? That’s where I got inspiration for my name a couple of years ago when I was just 15 making cute little outfits in my room and taking pictures & making tiktoks. Even after I stopped considering myself a scene kid, the name still stuck. It was more than just an online name. It became me. So much so that everyone in my life except for family calls me Onyx. Onyx used to be an alter ego, now it’s just who I am. I am Obsceneonyx.
